Successful surgery!

Today has been a good day. Brielle went through the surgery perfectly. I had an opportunity to speak with the Dr. before surgery and he gave me the results from the GI test they ran on Brielle. From the test they noticed she doesn't actually have acid reflux but a lot of secretions. Every baby spits up, Brielle's spit up just doesn't go very far and stays in the throat. He is expecting the secretions to subside since they are removing the feeding tube from her nose. He said "well if you put something where it shouldn't be, your body will try to get rid of it," so they are going to monitor her and see if there is a difference.

The Dr. was very positive. He said that if they had not found out about her cerebellum being smaller on the left side they would not even know the difference just by looking at her. Brielle is progressing with leaps and bounds. I had asked the Dr. of his confidence in her progress and he does not have any doubts in her ability to become stronger and function perfectly. He did confirm that the cerebellum deals with our intricate movement like having the ability of standing on one foot or having the preciseness of buttoning a button. One wonderful thing about baby's brains is that they are able to compensate for any lack of function and Brielle is showing positive signs of development, she is just taking her time. The nurses have orders to start her feedings back up in the morning and they will feed her through the g-tube.

I am thankful for the surgery going well and for also having the ability to speak with the Dr. today. He was very encouraging and has a very positive attitude toward Brielle's progress. God is good during the good days and the bad days, but then I stop and think about that and wonder, if He is good even during the bad days then there really are not any bad days, right? Thats just my crazy mind thinking again.

They are going to monitor over the next few days to see how well she adapts to the g-tube. Almost immediately after surgery they removed the breathing tube because Brielle was doing so well breathing on her own! Also, this little girl did not take any pain medicine at least 4 hours after surgery, it wasn't until we changed her diaper and started moving her that she started to get frustrated. She is the strongest person (next to her mom) that I know! Thank you all for your love and prayers.
