Hey everyone here is the latest! I know that some of you are going
through withdraws from not seeing a daily update. Tomorrow marks 1
week since Brielle has been home from the hospital. I am not going to
lie but this past week has seemed like a month. I have been blessed
beyond measure having my girls home. I love being able to watch
Brielle do new things and grow stronger! But with us being home does
not mean we are past this mountain.
The week has been a pretty good week. We have had visits from our home
health nurses and Brielle's physical therapist and they are all very
optimistic with Brielle's progress. Today we had our first appointment
with Brielle' s pediatrician. I will admit that I was nervous at first
but her Dr. is very optimistic with her progress which made me feel a
lot better. Plus Brielle had a weigh in and she came out a chubby 9lbs
4oz!!! Yay for chunky rolls! We couldn't be happier with Brielle's
sleeping habits which she received from her mommy. Brielle will go to
bed at around 10:30 p.m. and will not make a peep until 10 a.m.! All
in all the week has been good but it seems like it has been longer
than a week.
When I say that this past week seems like a month it is not because I
have failed to realize the seriousness of parenthood. What I mean by
that statement is that we are still fighting this battle. Brielle came
home with oxygen, a monitor, and a suction machine to help with her
secretions. Dianne and I have had a few scares this past week with the
biggest one happening this evening. Brielle is still having issues
with her airway becoming blocked because of the large amount of
secretions she is producing. Her oxygen level has dropped as low as
40% at one point, I will say that purple is not her color. This
evening it dropped even lower to 6%. It is normal for an individual to
have their oxygen intake, or O2 level, be between 85% and 100% so you
can see that 6% is not good. I was at a meeting during the time of the
episode so it was just Dianne at home tending to a choking baby. Dianne
knew exactly what to do and Brielle recovered fairly quickly but it
was still very scary. I am thankful for the training we have received
but I would rather not have to use it. I know that being a Christian I
should not worry about anything but I will admit that I struggle with
the fear. I know that God is allowing these things to happen for a
reason. If I did not believe that God's plans were perfect I may
actually lose my mind.
God has been with us every step of the way and has been with us every
second we are staying awake painstakingly watching Brielle's oxygen
monitor. It is Him who is giving us the strength to get out of bed
everyday. It is Him who is encouraging us through Brielle's smiles. It
is Him is constantly reminding us to trust in Him for He does not
start something and not finish it. From day one God has been working
in my life healing my wife and my little baby girl. I do not know what
lies ahead of us in the future but I know God will be with us. He is
faithful and like my heavenly Father I too must be faithful, even if
it seems like my faith tank is empty. Thank you all for your continued
support and prayers. Brielle sends her love!
